Project Launch: We Are Sand And Sea

We are thrilled to announce the official kickoff of We Are Sand And Sea (WASAS)! 🏐🏄‍♀️

What is WASAS? This is a new Erasmus+ project designed to address climate anxiety in young people by reconnecting with nature. We believe that the best way to turn fear into hope is through action, inclusion, and the joy of movement in our natural environment.

Our Mission: Instead of indoor gyms, we are taking sports to the sand and sea! 🌊 Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle while managing emotions related to climate change.

What to expect:

  • Sea & Sand Sports: Surfing, paddle surfing, kayaking, beach volleyball, and beach tennis.
  • Ecopsychology Workshops: Learning to manage “eco-anxiety” and build emotional resilience.
  • Environmental Action: Beach cleanings, reducing plastics, and using sustainable equipment.
  • Inclusion: A space open to everyone, with a specific focus on including young people with hearing impairments or those facing behavioral challenges.

The Consortium: We are a team of experts in sports, psychology, and digital storytelling from Spain, Greece, and Cyprus:

  • Arona Volley (Spain): Project Coordinator & Sports Psychology.
  • Anemos (Greece): Ecopsychology & Sports.
  • Breezageri (Cyprus): Digital Storytelling & Film.
  • University of La Laguna (Spain): Inclusion & Accessibility.

Throughout this journey, our participants will document their experiences to create a final short film and an e-guide to inspire others.

Join us as we move #fromecoanxietytoaction!
